Pietro Vincenzo Mosca Biography
Pietro Vincenzo Mosca was born in Rome in 1800. This very rare artist was brought to the fore in 1830 by Silvio Pellico, who told of a young painter of great ability who was deaf and mute. The life of this artist was dotted with numerous public commissions and participation in numerous important exhibitions.
In 1809, at just nine years old, he was sent to Paris to attend the Imperial Institute under the guidance of Abbot Sicard who soon directed him to painting. .
In 1818 it was entrusted to Cavalier Pecheux, painter at the court of Vittorio Emanuele I.
He continued his studies at the Academy of Turin under the direction of Biscarra, and, eager to improve, he went to Rome in 1825 to the schools of the famous Camuccini, and remained there until 1830.
In those years he exhibited in Turin in 1832 and was praised at the Biellese industrial artistic exhibition of 1840.
His artistic production is vast, including the "San Pietro" in the parish of Rosazza, "Sant'Onorato" in the cathedral of Biella, "San Giulio d'Orta" in Ronco-Biellese and many other paintings and frescoes in Zumaglia, in the paternal house in Rosazza, in the Villa della Bonina and a large number of portraits in various families in the Biella area.
