Giuseppe Olivieri Biography
Giuseppe Mario Oliveri was born in 1947 and moved to Milan to start his career at Marcello Nizzoli's studio. During the 1940s and 1950s, he collaborated closely with Nizzoli in the field of design and architecture, working for Olivetti and the ENI group. In 1955, together with Nizzoli, he began designing the covers for the magazine "L'Architettura cronache e storia", an activity which he continued until 1998, often in collaboration with other professionals.
In the 1960s, with Nizzoli's retirement, Oliveri embarked on a new phase in his career. He began to form several professional teams, known as "Studi Nizzoli", which included, among others, the engineer Paolo Viola and the architects Alessandro Mendini and Antonio Susini. In 1983, the Municipality of Milan dedicated an exhibition/review to these activities.
Among Oliveri's most significant works of those years are the urban plans and architectural projects for Taranto, the expansion of the city of Bratislava and the tourist settlements in Otranto and Lignano. He also created the project/competition for the Carlo Felice Theater in Genoa, the buildings for Editoriale Domus and design for Laverda. Many of his projects received important international awards and some design objects were included in the collections of major museums.
In 1995, Oliveri founded the Nizzoli Architettura studio, which retained its historical name in honor of Nizzoli. This new professional group, led by Oliveri together with the architects Domenico Cavallo, Michele and Nicola Premoli Silva, Gabriele Tosi and other young professionals who subsequently joined, collaborated with other Italian and foreign studios in the creation of numerous architecture, urban planning and interior design projects , industrial design and graphics.
