Antonio Paoletti Biography
Antonio Paoletti (1833 - 1912) trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice under the guidance of PM Molmenti. He made his debut at the Venetian exhibitions with historical paintings in the Romantic style, such as "Entry of Henry III, King of France" from 1860, "A visit from Henry III to Veronica Franco" from 1862 and "The refusal of Francesco Foscari's wife to deliver the corpse of her husband to the Venetian Signoria" in 1863. He worked as a decorator in palaces in the Veneto, including the Palazzo Ducale in Venice and the "Veduta di Verona". In 1878, he painted the curtain of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice with "The arrival in Venice of Olderico Giustiniani bearing the announcement of the victory of Lepanto". He also devoted his attention to portraiture, with works such as "Portrait of Tina di Lorenzo" from 1894, present at the Civic Museum of Bassano. Furthermore, he created genre paintings such as "The Fishing", "The Romance" and "Pearl Threader" which were exhibited in Trieste in 1870. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including those in Milan, Florence, Venice and Turin, as well as the Vienna and Antwerp Exhibitions. He also created religious works such as a high relief in the church of Santa Maria Formosa and frescoes in the chapel of San Giuseppe in the Basilica del Santo in Padua in 1896-1897.
