Lia Pascaniuc Biography
Lia Pascaniuc was born in Marginea, Romania, in 1981. She studied "Contemporary Arts and Crafts" in her hometown and graduated in 1997. In 1998, she moved to Turin to continue her studies in the economic field, specializing in business legal economic consultancy at the Faculty of Economics. In 2011 he graduated with a thesis on the "Public protection of privately owned artistic assets".
Lia Pascaniuc is an entrepreneur and has created a brand that bears her name, through which she reproduces her works on Italian and refined materials. His works are sold in museum bookshops and luxury shops. The themes dear to the artist are sustainability and ecology, with a view to ideal harmony and coexistence between planet and humanity. His works explore the emergencies of contemporary society, with particular attention to water, the environment and natural phenomena.
Lia Pascaniuc has created many works using photographic techniques and exploiting new multimedia technologies, such as video installations and the hologram. He has addressed issues such as irreversible transformations, climate change and global warming on these supports.
Influenced by the words and thoughts of Zygmunt Bauman, Lia Pascaniuc began a project entitled Vita Liquida, which explores the theme of liquid modernity. In this series of photographs, the artist has created an artificial setting deprived of water, where life takes place in total darkness. The focus is on the fish and their colorful shades that emerge from the dark background. The subtraction of liquids becomes a metaphor for a sensation of uncertainty, mutability and virtuality.
