Silvio Pasotti was born in Bergamo in 1933. He trained at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo under the direction of Achille Funi, a founding member of the Novecento. In 1951 he moved to the Italian Institute of Graphic Arts where he acquired great experience in the field of lithography.
Subsequently, the young artist worked in Spain and France, where from 1953 to 1957 he lived in Paris. In 1955 he held his first solo exhibition in Bergamo. In 1958 he joined a group of Milanese architects and established his studio at Torre Velasca.
In the 1960s he worked in architecture, but in 1964 he encountered the American Pop Art movement, which had a great impact on his art. Pasotti created particularly imaginative and allusive works, using metals and paint and everyday objects such as cars and washing machines. He created numerous monumental works, including mosaic panels and aluminum murals.
In 1969 Pasotti moved his studio to Paris, where he worked until 1975. After returning to Italy, to Milan, he often traveled to the United States (New York, San Francisco) and Egypt, sources of inspiration for his Work. Silvio Pasotti's painting and his work in general are characterized by disturbing images, metaphysical themes and surrealist influences. His work is mainly a reflection on contemporary society.
