Domenico Pecchio was born in Verona on 20 May 1687. He began his training as a self-taught, but improved his painting technique thanks to the precious contribution of Antonio Balestra, his neighbor. Due to his family's modest origins, he could not be an apprentice in an art workshop. Despite this, he studied architecture and perspective in depth. Among his works, one of the most famous is the "rest during the flight into Egypt", which was in the collection of the Archbishopric of Milan and can be dated to the 1930s, when Balestra's influence was still very strong. The same subject was repeated several times by the artist. Domenico Pecchio specialized in landscape painting, which allowed him to expand his market. In fact, he also received commissions from Rome and from prestigious foreign clients. Pecchio died in Verona on 14 April 1759.
