Gianni Piacentino was trained in the Turin environment of the 1960s and participated in the first Arte Povera exhibitions, exhibiting in Enzo Sperone's Turin gallery (1966) and in the “Prospect '68” exhibition at the Kunsthalle in Dusseldorf (1968). The artist dedicated himself to the production of wooden sculptures, covered in polyester and paintings with metallic colours, which reflect everyday objects, such as tables and ladders. At the end of the 1960s he concentrated on the creation of the first minimalist structures, with the aim of celebrating the dynamism of machines and the myth of speed.
