Simone Pignoni was a well-known Italian painter and sculptor, born in Florence on 17 April 1611 and died on 16 December 1698. Among his most important works are "the Virgin" and "San Michele", painted in 1671 in the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata, “San Luigi providing a banquet for the poor”, performed in 1682 in the church of Santa Felicita in Florence for Count Luigi Gucciardini, and San Carlo Borromeo and Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi.
Author of numerous religious paintings, Simone Pignoni has worked in various churches and places of worship in Italy, including the church of San Lorenzo in Montalbiolo, where he created "the Madonna with Child and Saints", the church of San Bartolomeo in Monte Oliveto , where he painted "the Madonna appearing to Blessed Bernardo Tolomei", and the church of San Biagio a Casale, where you can see the canvas with "the Madonna, the Child and the saints Rocco and Lucia".
In addition to religious paintings, Simone Pignoni created works of art such as "the Death of Saint Petronilla", "David and Abigail", "Ester and Ahasuerus", "the Daughters of Pelias deceived by Medea" and many others.
