Ermanno Politi Biography
Ermanno Politi was born in Velletri in 1919 and moved to Turin with his family when he was three years old. In 1929, he enrolled at the Albertina Academy and began studying painting with Cesare Ferro, who was also an excellent master of drawing, engraving, and fresco.
Politi is a multifaceted artist who does not limit himself to painting, but also shows a keen interest in sculpture. In 1954, he took part in the Fontana Competition and was commissioned by Roberto Terracini to create five mosaic and ceramic panels.
Politi is also known for his production of sketches and designs for advertising billboards, in particular for the Piedmontese horse racing clubs and the Vinovo horse races.
In the 1930s, Politi developed an interest in fresco painting, which became a distinctive feature of his art. For almost sixty years, he dedicated himself to mural painting, working mainly in Piedmont and Val d'Aosta. His subjects are both secular and religious, and he uses a variety of techniques, from fresco painting to acrylic, mosaic and encaustic.
Politi is an artist with a long history and great experience, who has crossed the history of painting of the past century without following the fashions of the moment. He is a skilled draftsman, sculptor, fresco painter, and talented colorist, but above all, he has a unique sensitivity in capturing landscapes, still lifes, figures and subjects.
Politi's art is neo-romantic and represents a revolution compared to the previous neoclassical art. His art proposes landscape and composition with a new freshness and immediacy, without symbolic forcing. His production is rich and varied, with works of great artistic mastery.
