The sculptor Aldo Rontini was born in Brisighella in 1948 and lives and works in Faenza. For years he taught plastic art at the Art Institute of Faenza and is currently at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. During the years of attending the Art Institute of Faenza he was attracted by the examples of D. Rambelli and G. Boschi. The apparent contradiction of the references, one robustly plastic, the other decoratively light, is assumed and resolved in modeling wisdom, where even the 'heroic' male body, frequently the subject of his sculpture, softens and comes, with irony , questioned in his 'manhood. At the beginning of the eighties he inspired and guided the renewal of ceramic sculpture, in opposition to a dominant 'telluric', post-informal ceramic line. His sculptural reliefs are almost always absorbed by archetypes in a symbolic anthropomorphization of the object, this research, brilliantly resolved, led him to the Faenza Prize in 1993. Since the beginning of the 1980s the originality of his work has taken him away from the narrow field of ceramic events for which he is invited to important art and design exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
