Manolo Ruiz Pipo Biography
Manolo Ruiz Pipo was born in Granada, where he spent most of his life. In 1936, he later lost his father during the Spanish Civil War.
Subsequently, together with his grandfather, he moved to Barcelona, where in 1942 he was admitted to the École des Arts et Métiers of Barcelona. He soon participated in exhibitions with the likes of Dalí, Picasso and Miro, then obtained a scholarship to study at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris.
At the Louvre, Manolo Ruiz Pipo examined the work of Georges de La Tour, then met Picasso, who introduced him to Jeanne Castel, his first Parisian gallery owner.
In 1960, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris purchased one of his works, in 1966 Manolo Ruiz Pipo left for Italy where he spent 10 years. Between 1975 and 1978 he lived in Amsterdam, where he studied Rembrandt and Vermeer.
In 1971, he visited Australia and exhibited in Sydney. Upon his return to Europe in 1975, Manolo Ruiz Pipo had become an established artist.
Ruiz Pipo's works are present all over the world. He treated all subjects such as genre scenes, still lifes, nudes, bullfighting, maternity, portraits etc.
