Renko Sandi Biography
Sandi Renko was born in Trieste in 1949 where she began her artistic training at the Nordio Art Institute. During this period, he was fortunate to be guided and inspired by masters such as the famous sculptor Ugo Carà, the designer Marcello Siard, Miela Reina and Enzo Cogno, all of them young protagonists of Trieste's avant-garde art. Subsequently, in the 70s, he moved to Padua where he created a design, visual communication and art direction studio, collaborating with leading companies in the furniture and furnishing accessories sector.
Here, he met Edoardo Landi and, stimulated by the artistic and intellectual context which is still influenced by the experiences of the kinetic and programmed art of the N group, he participated in group shows, happenings and impromptu events. It is precisely during this period that his predilection for programmed art and optical art was consolidated, thus defining his personal artistic language and technique.
Over the years he has continued to design, with the same rigor and method, works of design and art, expressing himself with equal balance in both disciplines. Thanks to the encouragement of Alberto Biasi, he intensified his artistic production and exhibited regularly, in group shows alongside other artists such as Sara Campesan, Franco Costalonga, Jorrit Tornquist and in numerous solo exhibitions in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia and Slovenia. He currently lives and works between Padua and Trieste, but is often in search of silent spaces and open horizons, which he finds by climbing the mountains or sailing.
