Annibale Scaroni Biography

Son of Andrea and Anna Pasolini. He studied at the Moretto School and then perfected himself in the studio of Francesco Paolo Michetti, from 1919 to 1923. His name barely surfaces in the Art in the Family exhibitions, starting from 1919. And his seems to remain a shadowy presence, even if he comes to his pictorial progress has been noted several times. Again in 1921 and 1923 he exhibited in the social exhibitions of the Amici dell'arte group and in 1924, on the occasion of the IV National Exhibition promoted by the Group itself and organized in the Teatro Grande, he had his own section, with nineteen paintings exhibited and three reproduced in the catalogue. . It is worth remembering that Scaroni, in the first decades of the century, was a teacher at the art school of Fiumicello and educated numerous young people in painting, including Vittorio Botticini. Married to Leonllide Valli, he moved to Milan in 1928 and later worked in his adopted city. Already in 1926 he held a solo show there, at the «Bottega di poetica»; in 1928 he ordered another from the «Galleria Micheli», followed in 1939 by presences at the «Galleria Scopinich» and the «Gianferrari». In 1932 he was a guest of the «Galleria Prevosti» in Varese, in 1943 of the «Permanente» in Bergamo. Numerous paintings are mentioned in the publications consulted: Morning pasture, The watering hole, Violinists, Church in Bormio, The Naviglio at Porta Ticinese (A. Ferrarin collection), Controluce, On the farmyard, Brianza landscape, (P. Ferrerio collection), Haymaking , L'arat ra, Digging, The Bormio plateau, from the CA Stachelin collection, L'idolo, as well as some portraits painted of Mrs. M. Gallotti, of the soprano A. Otrobella. A painting by Scaroni is located in the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan; another, Portrait of Mr. Carozzi, in the picture gallery of the Ospedale Maggiore.
