Stefano Scheda Biography
He was born in Faenza in 1957. He lives in Bologna where he teaches "strategy of invention" at the Academy of Fine Arts. His research has always tried to capture the short circuits of reality without altering its objective physiognomy, but allowing it to be perceived at a second glance the gap, the strabismus, the elsewhere. Therefore the "outside inside" or "double gaze" series interrogate the threshold as a double-faced and contemporary opening-closure of the gaze. The presence of the sea is a constant in many of his works. The most recent work is created through a dynamic ductility, which leads to a speculation on the perception of reality and its possible media translation, abdicating to the spectator the difficulty of distinguishing between illusion and reality, as in the series of buildings in which doors and windows they have been replaced by mirrors, creating a sense of alienation in the viewer. Various participations in exhibitions, including international ones, from the Mart in Rovereto (2011) to the Venice Biennale (2005), from the GAM in Bologna (2004) to the Annina Nosei Gallery in New York (2003). Among others, Peter Weiermair, Peter Weibel, Jonathan Turner, Emmanuel Cooper, Laura Cherubini, Claudio Marra, Luigi Meneghelli, Roberto Daolio, Ludovico Pratesi, Eugenio Viola, Valerio Dehò, Angela Madesani, Cristiano Seganfreddo, Sabrina Zannier have written about him , Daniele Capra, Martina Cavallarin.
