Schneider Gerard (Saint Croix, 1896 - Paris, 1986) Gerard Schneider was a Swiss artist. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he began to show his pictorial qualities within the Jeune Ecole de Paris. His works are characterized by abstract shapes, quick gestures and brushstrokes and by the use of white, black and red colors, to best express the insecurity and internal conflict of 20th century man. In 1946 he participated in the first abstract art exhibition, held at the Denise Renè gallery in Paris and critics soon placed him in the artistic movement of lyrical abstraction. Schneider participated in many exhibitions in numerous cities around the world: New York, Tokyo, Madrid, Milan, Venice, Paris.
