Michele Stanzione Biography
Michele Stanzione was born in 1981 in Paolisi, Province of Benevento. His interest in art began with photography, which he used as a medium for the powerful expression and communication of his artistic creativity. His first works were surrealist photographs that predominantly used black and white. In 2007, Stanzione participated in a collective exhibition organized on the occasion of the 95th Anniversary of Albanian Independence at the Embassy of Albania in Rome. Since then, he has continued to exhibit in solo and group exhibitions in various Italian cities. In 2015, he participated in the International Biennial of Works on Paper "Stemperando" with exhibitions in Turin, Rome and Tirana curated by Dr. Anselmo Villata. In November 2016, he won the prestigious title "Mo-tse Photography Master Award" at the sixth edition of the Jinan International Photography Biennial. In May 2017, he received the "Premio alle Eccellenze - Napoli Cultural Classic" as photographer of the year. Subsequently, one of his photos entitled "So far, so close" was selected to be included in the Canova Prize - International Contemporary Art Award - in New York in 2018. In the same year, Stanzione's work was exhibited at the Bibliothè Contemporary Art Gallery of Rome with the personal exhibition entitled "Velata - a unique work by Michele Stanzione" as part of the UNUM art exhibitions curated by Francesco Gallo Mazzeo. In 2019, his works were presented at the international event "The International Famous Artist and Children's Art - Dream Cup Works Exhibition" in Beijing, where Stanzione was the guest of honor for the opening of the festival. In 2020, Stanzione served as Artistic Director for Artist Milot's 50-meter permanent installation "Key of Montevergine". In 2021, he was Artistic Director of the "Lupi ad Avella" exhibition by Chinese artist Liu Ruowang. In May 2022 he participated in the collective "Diversity" in Florence, curated by Mauro Pratesi.
