Quentin Tarantino Biography
Quentin Jerome Tarantino was born in 1963 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of an actor and a mother named Connie, who decided to name him Quentin in honor of Burt Reynolds' character Quint Asper in Gunsmoke. At the age of three he moved with his divorced mother to Los Angeles and became passionate about cinema thanks to her and her later classmates, who took him to the cinema and allowed him to watch any type of film. At just 14, Quentin wrote his first screenplay and, at 15, stole an Elmore Leonard novel from a supermarket. He studied acting for the theater and, at the end of the 70s, at the age of 16, he left high school to dedicate himself to various jobs such as the usher in a porno cinema, appearing in a TV series (Hearts without ages!!!) and managing of a video rental, becoming a great source of expertise for every customer.
In the 1980s, Quentin met the producer Lawrence Bender at a party and managed to place several historical screenplays at various studios: Full Life (1993) by Tony Scott and Natural Born Killers (1994) by Oliver Stone. In 1994, he achieved great success with the direction of Pulp Fiction, winning the Palme d'Or at Cannes, two nominations for best director (Oscar and Golden Globe) and two awards for best original screenplay (Oscar and Golden Globe), becoming thus an icon of contemporary cinema.
In the following period, Quentin experimented with the collaboration of his friend Robert Rodriguez, taking part in the Dal Dusk All'Alba trilogy and acting as an actor in some episodes of the television series Alias. In 2003-2004 he created a Kill Bill bilogy with Uma Thurman as the protagonist. In 2015, he decided to return to grandiloquent cinema and large productions with the creation of The Hateful Eight, a western that stands out for its technique and emotionality.
