Ernesto Tatafiore Biography

Tatafiore Ernesto (Marigliano, 1943) Ernesto Tatafiore began to become passionate about art thanks to the artistic activity of his uncle Guido. He graduated in medicine but continued to cultivate his passion for painting. The meeting with the Lucio Amelio Gallery was important, on the occasion of which Achille Bonito Oliva defined him as a "neo-enlightenment", for his tendency to create a link between art and history. His paintings are characterized by the presence of heroes such as Robespierre, Mozart, Maradona, Danton, Masaniello, Virtue or historical events or events of humanity, freed from that idea of the logical-consequential story. The figure of Robespierre for example is represented in an unconventional way, using traditional artistic techniques. Tatafiore's representative technique involves the use of very fast and light strokes with the aim of representing scenes that come from immediately perceived reality, without mediation. The subjects of his paintings are often linked to paradoxes and the concept of the absurd. In 1964 he obtained an award from the Ministry of Public Education and in 1966 he participated in the Quadrennial of Roman art. He participated in numerous exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum in Lucerne and at the Museum moderner Kunst Ludwig in Vienna.
