Francesco Tirirò Biography
Francesco Tirirò (1935 - ?) was born in Monterosso Almo (RG) in 1935. As a child he worked as a sheep guardian in the middle of the countryside. And there, he begins to scrutinize the signs on the rocks, the shapes of the trees, the foaming of the waters, the various positions of the bull and his cows. And this is where he began to draw and paint, while watching the livestock and working the land. From a shepherd/farmer, he became a pole runner and bulldozer and a few years later, he moved to Camaiore, in the province of Lucca, where he still lives. Since 1971/72 his artistic activity has been defining itself, until it completely absorbed him. He has held numerous exhibitions in Viareggio, Reggio Emilia, Messina, Catania, Turin, Syracuse, Florence Palazzo Strozzi, Lucca, Empoli. The zoomorphic white masses of Tirirò, which are rocks but many other things at the same time, or the animals that run through them or above them, make us think of an interpretation of the environment in terms of the first day of creation, of matter that has not yet you decide to choose its morphology. In Tirirò's painting there is the strength of a spell that transcends objects and makes poetry out of them, which transforms everyday life into an absolute. Outside of time and history, Tirirò restores to the subjects of his paintings the essentiality of what is simply true, of what belongs to them irrevocably.
