Stefano Toso Biography
Stefano Toso is a well-known glassmaker born in 1958 in Venice, into a family with a prestigious tradition in glass processing. From a young age, he undertook an apprenticeship at the family glass factory, under the guidance of his father Berto. In 1975, he began his training as a glassmaker at ALT Vetreria. Later, he undertook an apprenticeship as an engraver at the F. Moretti glassworks, working under the guidance of the renowned Livio Seguso.
In 1977, Stefano opened his own furnace, characterizing it for his avant-garde and his study of cold glass processing. It is during this period that he brought his original glass works to life. Collaborating with the master Egidio Costantini, he created pieces of art inspired by the famous Fucina Degli Angeli. Although he has experimented with various fields in the art of artistic production, he specializes in enhancing the shape of glass through precise cold working and engraving, a skill which he honed through his collaboration with Livio Seguso.
In 1982, Stefano opened a brickyard in partnership with Romano Donà, where he perfected his craft for the next 12 years. During this period, he collaborated with several artists, including Robert Willson, Kyohei Fujita and Lucio Bubacco. In particular, together with Lucio Bubacco, he developed new techniques to create an innovative collection of glass works, which has won the favor of international galleries and collectors.
Today Stefano Toso, retired, leaves behind a legacy of mastery in glassmaking and a significant contribution to the art of glass.
