(Rome 1942 - Collelongo 2021). At the age of five he moved to Denmark alone for a few years, a very important experience in his life. In the 1960s, after a period of studies in architecture, he dedicated himself entirely to painting. In 1980 he created Caravaggio 1, followed by Conformazione di Paolo, and in 1984 Canestra, but full of exotic fruits. He has had solo exhibitions all over the world: Studio Ferni, Milan (2004); Albemarle Gallery, London (2005); Bernarducci & Meisel Gallery, New York (2008); Palazzo Como del Broletto (2010); Russian State Museum, St. Petersburg (2010); Hollis Taggart Gallery, New York (2010); World Children's Fund, Ibrahim Kodra, Melide (Switzerland, 2010); Beijing Contemporary Art Fair, Beijing (2011). His paintings are preserved in important private and public collections in Italy and abroad. These include the Modern Art Collection of the Italian Senate, the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg. In 201 he participated in the LIV edition of the Venice Biennale.
Since 1995 he has lived and worked in Collelongo, Abruzzo National Park.
Painting, combined with uninterrupted and inexhaustible research, is a profession that Ventrone has felt very strongly about since an early age and which has always accompanied him, making him one of the main living protagonists of Italian figurative art. After studying all the subjects of contemporary art, he arrived at realism, an extraordinary realism to say the least, the search for figurative detail which has the character of a true "scientific study". However, despite starting from photography, the artist immediately distances himself from photography and creates a paradoxical abstraction of the subject, which is no longer a substance that survives only in light. The creation of the works is actually slow and laborious, layer after layer, stroke after stroke, to reach such perfection that the artist has reached "the idea of the object", which is a meaning that he dares to express. define metaphysics. In her work, the essence of things reveals itself before our eyes, and in one of her writings she explains the words of Elena Dibartolomei who, by stopping our breathing, forces us to recover in a slower, more reflective way. Breathe, give rhythm to the composition of the canvas. Ultimately, definitely worth considering is the part of the work where the artist gives us a peek of such great craftsmanship through these titles.
