Giorgio Zenoni Biography
Giorgio Zenoni was born in Genoa in 1935 and graduated in Architecture from the Ecole Superieure d'Architecture St. Luc in Brussels in 1959. In the same year, he was called by Franco Albini to take care of the executive planning and artistic direction of the construction works of the Rinascente in Piazza Fiume in Rome. In 1962, he obtained the equalization of his degree at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice, with Albini as supervisor.
From 1967 and for a period of approximately fifteen years, his design activity was strongly characterized by the collaboration with Walter Barbero, Baran Ciagà and Giuseppe Gambirasio. In Bergamo, some of their creations are worth mentioning, such as the mobile exhibition building in Celadina, the "Duse" multifunctional building and the convent of the Franciscan friars. Even today, Zenoni continues his professional relationship with Barbero, concentrating mainly in the field of museography and creating installations at the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bergamo.
He practices his profession in Italy, France and Belgium, specializing mainly in the design of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Among his most significant works, we can mention the "Paracilindro", a residential building located in Bergamo, the multifunctional complex called "Ginko" in Lille and the conservative restoration of an 18th century palace in Tournai.
In 1989, together with Baran Ciagà and Giuseppe Gambirasio, he received the national IN-ARCH award for the "Baxie" residential complex in Spotrono. In 1991, he founded the Zenoni Associati Architettura e Paesaggio studio together with his architect sons Stefano and Simone. In 2001, he held a personal exhibition entitled "To build" at the headquarters of the Municipality of Seriate, in the province of Bergamo.
