Department
The department, headed by Gherardo Rusconi since 2008, holds 6 auctions per year, 4 of which are online only. Each work (in 2018 more than 2,000 were presented with a sales rate of 75%) is dedicated an in-depth sheet that contains all the available information regarding the conditions of conservation and origin. An office, managed by Dr. Donati (Junior Specialist of the department), deals exclusively with the authentication, archiving and historiographic research of the works, thus offering the buyer the best possible guarantees in terms of transparency and security in the purchase. The search for the works is directed for the vast majority towards private customers who constitute the largest supply basin of the Auction House. Withdrawals are carried out throughout Italy by express courier, affiliated transporters or internal staff, while the assessments can be carried out by experts on site or on the basis of photographs via email. On the other hand, sales are distributed equally throughout the country and abroad, giving the department a decidedly international profile. Among the most interesting sales, names can be mentioned including Hans Hartung (auction 236 - lot66 - sold for € 134,000,000), Paolo Scheggi (auction 215 - lot 54 - sold for € 118,950.00), John Hoyland (auction 198 - lot 63 - sold for € 103,700.00), Igor Mitoray (auction 204 - lot 135 - sold for € 102,480.00), Cesar Baldaccini (auction 258 - lot 68 - sold for € 68,880.00), Turi Simeti (auction 204 - lot 118 - awarded for € 87,840.00) and others that give the correct indication of the variety of the proposal. The department is also operational with regard to the private negotiation of works of important artistic importance. For more information: moderno@capitoliumart.it
