The Art Rooms, forerunners of the modern museum concept, but conceived as private rooms, rooms of wonders, studios, intimate environments, come to life from the interest in the unique, the unusual, the magical and the unknowable esoteric, intrinsic in the ancient and romantic concept of mystery. In the historical period that runs throughout the 16th century, reaching up to the 18th, the Renaissance cult of the human desire to be able to possess what arouses wonder, making it eternally timeless, winds its way within national and international courts. Fervent and loving collecting gives the object its soul, which is shared and shown only to those who are fascinated by it. Mirabilia are the works of art with the most disparate, exotic and distant ethnographic origins: created by nature, naturalia, or manufactured by man, artificialia.
