A big Thangka in Nak-thang style (with black background) which portrays Vaisravana, one of the four lokapalas, protector of cardinal points and guardian of treasures (Rnam-thos-sras in Tibetan). The figure holds two of his typical objects: in his left hand he holds the jewels-spitting mongoose (Nakula), while in his right hand he holds the banner (Dhvaja), which represents the victory of the Buddhist doctrine. Noteworthy is the lavish silk brocade, made in China, inserted under the frame. Total measures: 171x105 cm.
