A wooden figure of Buddha on an altar Burma, 18th-19th century
Lot consisting of a gilded and lacquered wooden sculpture depicting the historical Buddha seated in padmasana; his right hand in bhumisparsamudra, the left in dhyanamudra. The figure rests on a non-coeval two-tiered lacquered and gilded wooden altar embellished with twisted feet forming a flame-like decoration.
