Ecuador- Bahia. Anthropomorphic sculpture in polychrome terracotta. 300 BC - 800 AD.
Post-fired polychrome painted ceramic. The figure wears a conspicuous headdress that extends backwards to cover part of the shoulders. The arms are worn at chest height. Narigueras and beaded necklace. The body retains the original ochre paint, which turns red at the feet.
Restored at the left side of the head.
Provenance: Marcel Ebnother collection, Sempach, Switzerland.
Present authentic Hermes Arte Antica, Arezzo.
