Ecuador - Jama - Coaque. Rare anthropomorphic terracotta sculpture of Tsansero 300 a.C. - 800 d.C.
A rare and exceptional character with fish, birds and a severed head around his head. On the front is visible an emblem that must have been covered by the human skin of a slain warrior. This is the representation of a TSANSERO or head reducer.
This practice is documented in ethnographic sources for some Ecuadorian ethnic groups, including the Jama- Coaque.
