Kuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Glossy dark patina hardwood back rest. Signs of use.
Improperly called a stool or seat, this splendid Kuba backrest features intricate and elaborate geometric carving entirely covered with an eye-catching dark glossy patina, unfortunately not particularly photogenic.
The two holes drilled in one of the longitudinal sides were used to hold a ligature for carrying the backrest over the shoulder.
