Coins such as this one, with the shape of the letter "U" consisting of a copper rod with a cross section of about 1 cm. and with riveted ends in a thin disc shape, were made by Nkutshu blacksmiths to give to neighboring Basongo who considered them very important and with high economic value; these types of objects were used as payment for marriage dowries and for the purchase of slaves.
