Large ceramic bowl painted in red-brown and black on a white background. It belongs to the Nazca culture, which has its centre in the southern coast of Peru. Nazca ceramics are basically painted and the decoration is multifaceted: from feline deities, to trophy heads, to animals, especially birds and fish. This dish depicts a large seabird holding a fish in its beak.
Provenance: 'La Balaustra', Bologna. Includes card, dated November 1980.
