The character of Piuma Rossa, a young Canadian redcoat created by Mario Basari and Luigi Sorgini, made his debut in the Catholic weekly Il Giornalino in 1977. The son of a white man and an Indian and orphaned, the hero of the series had as adoptive fathers a sergeant of the Mounted Police and a sachem of the Blackfeet, who had raised him.
