Stucco Buddha head. Gandhara, probably 3rd-4th century AD.
The round face is skilfully modelled into a serene expression, the almond-shaped eyes are well outlined and full lips hinting at a smile suffuse the face with a gentle and distant peace. The wavy hair is topped with ushnisha.
Provenance: Private Italian collection.
Purchased from Antichità Fiorella, 1 February 1998, Mantua.
