Tellem, Mali. Stiff collar made of twisted iron. Notable patina and obvious signs of use.
Magnificent antique iron collar forged, twisted, and engraved in geometric patterns by a Tellem smith, an ancient population of Mali and Burkina Faso. A very similar specimen can be found in tab 333 of the comprehensive volume Art of the Dogon written by Jan Baptist Bedaux, Bedaux Art Editions, Brussels, 2012.
