Superb in size and quality, this back pendant, or Asyk, was worn on the back for protection, fastening it with braids to the pompous pectoral elements to create a balance of both weight and vision.
Hot-decorated with gold, embellished with six carnelian beads of different calibre and skilfully engraved with the geometric motifs typical of the Turkmenistan Tekke, this splendid jewel also impresses with the excellent state of preservation in which it has come down to us.
