Gilded bronze cast figure of the standing Buddha in the act of proceeding towards the observer with his right arm extended and his left hand in abhayamudra. This iconography, known in the West with the Anglo-Saxon name of "walking Buddha", appeared in Thailand in the 14th century and was indicated by the term "cankrama" (the one who goes back and forth) with reference to the long and continuous path of the Buddha in the third week after Enlightenment, when he turned into a wandering beggar.
