A monochrome Kendi China, possibly Song dynasty (960-1279), 13th century
A pumpkin-shaped pourer characterized by a high splayed neck and a rounded body covered with an ivory white glaze with dark flecks. This type of vase, introduced in China in the Song era, was very popular and widely exported to the Middle East where it was employed as a water pipe.
