A Thangka which portrays the bodhisattva of compassion Avalokitesvara (Spyan-ras-gzigs phyag-bzhi-pa in Tibetan). The central figure, in his four-armed version, is seated in padmasana position and holds a rosary (mala) and a lotus, while with his two other hands he holds the invisible Cintamani jewel. Around him the Thangka depict a great number of characters in narrative sequence.
