A Turkish Yatagan with leather and embossed silver scabbard, dated 1270 (1849) Turkey, half 19th century
A beautiful Yatagan with wooden handle embellished with an embossed golden plaque. This plaque shows plant motifs which embellish a part of the blade that is decorated with carved arabesques and a rectangular frame where "property of Ahmad 1270" is written. (1270 refers to 1849 AD.) The leather sheath has its extremities embellished with an embossed silver foil with floral motifs.
