Lot 146
The Badano / Brivec table is classified in the repertoire of certifications of the Franco Albini Foundation with the initials Tv02C, is believed to be an original multiple of the" expandable dining table "designed by Franco Albini for the Brivec house in 1956 (Drawing 130/14, 21/08/1956). This is a model of table which for the structural support part takes up the characteristics of the tables designed by Albini for the lawyer Badano in 1953-54, but which stands out from those for the shape of the top, which in the case of the project for the Badano studio is made both in a circular version and in an ellipsoidal version resting on two identical supports (Drawing n.142/7), while for the Brivec Albini house he designs a table with an equilateral hexagonal top resting on the characteristic central structure in question, with also a solution of a projecting lateral extension. Then from the historical photos of the interior of the Brivec house, we understand that this table design with hexagonal top is not realized while in its place a table is made with always the typical and unique central structure, but the top has an elongated ellipsoidal shape, perhaps to avoid having to support the complication of an extension to remove and put on. Of this table made for the Brivec home we have no idea what the current location may be. Given this story, it would also be assumed that the table model here called Tv02C which appears to come from the Poggi company's warehouse / warehouse (confirmed by the Poggi heirs themselves), may be the model envisaged for the Brivec house which was then rejected, but some factors (especially the assembly of parts left in stock) suggest that this table is rather to be considered an original copy of the Brivec model, probably prepared for another customer. It is important to remember that this type of table, especially due to its characteristic support structure, has never been included in the catalog of
current production of Poggi spa., so at the moment only a few pieces are known to be made to measure. It is likely that the broken pieces of this table were recovered from the Poggi warehouse because the small metal parts (in stainless steel) do not look the same as the original ones that can be seen used in the table for the Badano studio, which appear with a black finish. / blued. In the light of all these premises and therefore considering all the aspects not yet fully clarified, we certify that the table here called Tv02C (type design for the Brivec house) is to be considered authentic as a design by Franco Albini and realization of the Poggi company, considering it as an assembly of parts prepared by Poggi for supplies which were obviously not completed and therefore remained in the warehouse.
