Katanga, Handa or Lukanu cross. Coin in copper alloy.
Made of pure X-shaped copper by pouring the molten metal into a mold directly into the sand, this coin has ancient origins. Some specimens have been found in graves dating back to the 11th century. The abundance of copper in the Katanga region has always led the inhabitants of the area to use this metal in trade negotiations with neighbors.
Sample in good state with beautiful patina.
