This small locksmith’s peg visually represents among the Lega an ancient proverb related to blacksmiths: "When the Blacksmith is absent, his child risks being hit by the hammer".
Among the League pegs and hammers call to mind the blacksmiths who in turn call to mind the members of the company Bwami, since both have to deal with dangerous powers and both are responsible for the protection of family and community from unconscious harm.
