Magnificent Uatogi (from the Polynesian root Togi - to knock down) war club and rank insignia in the shape of a paddle with a spatula-shaped head and a rhomboid-section handle with a single concession to aesthetic decoration consisting of a high-relief line in the upper central part of the head plate.
The different colour tone of the handle suggests that it was originally partly covered with woven plant fibres.
Hardwood, probably Casuarina equisetifolia, excellent intact patina, visible defects and obvious signs of use.
